‘’Empowering Young People to become Leaders in National Sustainable Development’’

Global Youth Network for Empowerment and Development – GYNED was established in 2012, and exists as a result of the humane passion in advocating and addressing crosscutting issues evolving around the welfare, rights, transformation, empowerment and development of youth and young people, especially women, girls and persons living with disabilities to be liberated from the menace, impunity, exclusion, violence, deprivation, and trepidation of society in Sierra Leone.

GYNED is legally registered and fully operational as a Non-governmental and Civil Society Organisation in the annals of the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (SLANGO), the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED), the Ministry of Youth Affairs (MoYA), the National Youth Commission (NAYCOM), and with the Cooperate Affairs Commission as a Limited by Guaranty Company in Sierra Leone.

GYNED has a nation-wide coverage and scope of operations through our district youth volunteers, representatives and member Organisations in all 16 districts in Sierra Leone. Our main targets are specifically Youth, Young women and other less fortunate, vulnerable and minority groups including persons living with disabilities, because of the many challenging issues surrounding their growth and developments, particularly in this part of the world where especially women continue to face deprivation, violence and other forms of abuse in their daily lives.

Therefore, we advocate, educate, promote, support, partner, develop and implement programmes and projects that positively transform mindsets, and provides equal access to opportunities for youth and young people regardless of their gender, tribe or race, and we further provide relevant transformational services for their survival and development, that will enhance them to become liberated, empowered, self-reliant and key partners in national sustainable development.

We are strongly committed and dedicated to promoting human capital development holistically by tackling acute poverty, violence and youth unemployment issues through effective advocacy and excellent service delivery at community, local and national levels.

GYNED has the requisite human resource capacity to provide desired results of any assigned responsibility, and we have the ability to work under pressure and produce accurate and timely reports and results that are impact oriented and justifiable. We practice the four specific under-mentioned steps in driving the positive change process that we seek.

Each of the above stated elements is an integral part and step in achieving a positive, strong and vibrant youth and young population that should be actively involved in leading the national sustainable development processes and making their voices heard.

To ensure that our Organisation is able to effectively connect with the youth and young Sierra Leoneans, we do recruit, train and maintain volunteers in all the 5 regions and 16 districts of Sierra Leone, and we collaborate with a range of national youth Organisations across the country. Such partnerships enables us to work mutually and share responsibilities, resources and ideas on a national platform, by engaging to inspire these youth and young people to become socially conscious and responsible leaders of today, as we strongly believe that it is only transformed and highly motivated youth and young Sierra Leoneans that has the power to ignite positive change, and GYNED always stands and guide these young leaders on their journey to change and self-development.

GYNED has a very effective and functional Board, seasoned Management Team and efficient operational and support staff, with the most relevant knowledge, skills, competence, expertise, passion, qualification and experience to undertake our roles and responsibilities. We likewise ensure to follow standardized internal control measures in our daily operations and activities, and also ensure to fully adhere to and comply with donors and project guidelines and TOR’s. We likewise have the most distinct virtues needed not just to synchronize the implementation of assignments, but to as well arrive at an impact-oriented premise in consonance with project objectives.

GYNED’s role, core responsibilities and approach is to ensure and holistically enhance youth capacity and development in all spheres in Sierra Leone, therefore, establishing partnerships and the use of our skills and expertise is justified by the need to seek for an outstanding team, and acquire real value for money invested in any project. Our goal is to provide practical solutions that enable the youth and young women to maximize their fullest potentials, creativity, skills, abilities and talents to be leaders in national sustainable development.

Our key assets revolves around the quality composition of our team, and our innate proven abilities to positively influence and transform mindsets, and make strategic positive changes and impact through our interventions, and with significant experience in initiating, planning, standard delivery and successful implementation of youth and women developmental projects and programmes in Sierra Leone.
